Important Update for SDA Members at David Jones You will have heard this morning that David Jones has entered voluntary administration. We understand that news like this can be distressing, especially in the lead-up to Christmas. Remember, your SDA union membership means we are here to support you at work, no matter what happens. It is expected that some David Jones stores will close as part of the changes, but at this stage we do not know which stores will be affected or what this will mean for individual jobs. Voluntary administration does not automatically mean David Jones will go into liquidation. It is a process where administrators assess the business and determine the best path forward. The SDA represents you and your rights at work. If this impacts your job, hours or workplace, we will be there to represent members, make sure your rights and entitlements are protected and ensure the company and administrators meet their obligations. The SDA will always focus on protecting your entitlements and prioritising ongoing employment for members. You won’t have to navigate any changes alone. We’ll be here to answer your questions, explain your rights and stand up for you. Our priority right now is making sure you receive accurate information, understand your rights and have the support you need. The SDA has extensive experience supporting members through workplace changes and can provide advice specific to your situation. If you know someone in your store who isn’t an SDA member, encourage them to join today so they can have the SDA in their corner too. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more about which stores are affected and what the changes mean for members. You can contact us on 131 732 or secretary@sdansw.asn.au.
